One, reflector cup
Usually, the LED light source has a light-emitting angle of about 120°. In order to achieve the desired optical effect, the lamp sometimes uses a reflector to control the light distance, light area, and spot effect.
reflector material
Metal reflector: it needs to be stamped and polished. It has deformation memory. The advantages are low cost and temperature resistance. It is often used for lamps with low-grade lighting requirements.
Plastic reflector: It is demoulded at one time, with high optical precision, no deformation memory, moderate cost, and is often used in lamps with low temperature requirements for medium and high-end lighting. Moreover, for export companies, plastic cups are easier to pass safety regulations, while aluminum cups are not easy to pass safety regulations.
LED lens is divided into primary lens and secondary lens. What we generally refer to as “l(fā)ens” refers to the secondary lens by default, which is in addition to LED lamp beads, COB and other light sources, and is closely combined with it. According to different requirements, different lenses can be used to achieve the desired optical effect.
The main material of LED lens on the market is PMMA, which has good plasticity and high light transmittance (up to 93%). The disadvantage is that the temperature resistance is relatively low, only about 90 degrees. The main secondary lenses on the market are generally designed with total internal reflection (TIR for short). The lens is designed with a penetrating light collection in the front, and the tapered surface can collect and reflect all the side light, and these two The overlap of this kind of light can get perfect light utilization and beautiful spot effect. The efficiency of the TIR lens can reach more than 90%, and it is mainly used in small-angle lamps (beam angle <60°), such as spotlights and ceiling lights.
The optical effect and application difference of lens and reflector:
Picture: The effect of the lens generally has no secondary spot, and the light shape is more beautiful. Because of the TIR design, the light output efficiency is relatively high. For example, German ERCO prefers to use lens solutions to design lamps, which can be made smaller!
Picture: The reflector is used in this occasion. The effect is quite beautiful! This is not easy to achieve with the lens.
